First Friday & Opening for Cyndi Thau

Rio Carrabelle Gallery is hosting another fun First Friday art event on Friday, July 7th from 5:00-9:00 pm at Rio Carrabelle Gallery in downtown Carrabelle. This First Friday art event will be held in celebration of the opening of a new exhibit featuring artist, Cyndi Thau. Guests can also browse new artwork recently put on display by Joe Kotzman, William Owen, Pat Moore, Barb Ryan, Roger Leonard and Bo May.  This indoor / outdoor First Friday art event will be filled with interesting art, live music, local artists, lively conversation, friendly folks, after-hours shopping and refreshments.  This event is a wonderful chance to meet several of these talented artists in a relaxed, social atmosphere.

Cyndi Thau has always wanted to keep art as a central focus of her life. Her personal creations have included murals, mosaics, bead work and painting, especially oil painting with a glazing technique, becoming an instructor of this method. “I am fascinated by the forms, colors, depth and play of light and shadow that interact in the painting. I use thin layer upon layer of oil paint to achieve the translucency that I associate with all the things in nature…I work to translate the movement of water onto canvas.  The reflection of light on and through water, always flowing, never still, is both a challenge and a delight to capture.” Cyndi resides on Florida’s Forgotten Coast where she walks the gulf coast beaches to collect shells that she uses for centerpieces in her bead work, and continues to paint the water she loves.
