Fishing & Marinas

Carrabelle, a peaceful fishing village where for many years, fishing has been a way of life, is located on the Gulf Coast panhandle just an hour’s drive southwest of Tallahassee. Here you will find some of the finest fishing in the world… both fresh and saltwater.

There are several fully equipped marinas, which cater to boaters and fishermen that visit the area. Angling possibilities abound and charter boats are readily available for offshore or bay fishing. Or, you may wish to head upriver where even a novice angler can find plenty of action. Before heading into the water, Carrabelle is an excellent place to have some work done on your vessel with facilities and trained individuals available for any marine services.

City of Carrabelle Boat Ramps (Marine Street and 4th Street) incorporated a boat launch fee of $10.00 per launch. Envelopes are provided and a payment box is on site.  If you are a resident or property owner of Franklin County you may get an annual pass for a $3.00 processing fee per individual with proof of residency/deed. Non-residents can also get an annual pass for $120.00 plus $3.00 processing fee per vehicle. Annual passes for residents/property owners and non-residents can be obtained from City Hall.  Boat launch fees will be enforced by the City of Carrabelle Police Department. Boat launch facilities will be overseen by the City of Carrabelle.

To help protect wildlife from your fishing line, make sure to check your tackle frequently for frayed line that may easily break. Unwanted or damaged line should be stored away until it can be placed in a recycling bin. Fishing line recycling bins are located at 10-foot hole in Apalachicola, both sides of the old St. George Island fishing piers, at the St. George Island State Park and at the Riverwalk in Carrabelle. If you see discarded monofilament line while you are out, pick it up, secure it and dispose of it appropriately. If you come across entangled or distressed wildlife you can call the Wildlife Alert hotline at 888-404-FWCC, (808-404-3922).

Artificial Reefs

There are more than 50 artificial reefs located offshore from the Franklin County shoreline.
