Estuaries Day 2018

~ Free family friendly activities to celebrate our national estuaries ~

1:30 pm -6 pm.

The Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (ANERR) will celebrate National Estuaries Day on Friday, September 29, in Eastpoint, Florida.  The first 600 visitors will receive a free t-shirt. Activities include free, fun and educational stations for kids and adults including marine animal touch tanks, and estuary-themed games including Microplastic Match-Up, Reptile Round-Up and Pin the Tag on the Monarch.

Attendees can also tour ANERR’s 5,400 square-foot Nature Center with its three large aquariums filled with local estuarine and marine life, an 80-foot long mural depicting the area ecosystems, and a hands-on Bay Discovery Room. The Sea Turtles of the Forgotten Coast exhibit, also on display in the Nature Center, shows videos of nesting sea turtles and hatchlings and demonstrates what responsible beach residents can do to help sea turtles. This is a free public event and reservations are not required. For more information contact the Apalachicola National Research Reserve at 850-670-7700.
